School-Based and Community-Based Improvements

In a previous blog about Big Brothers Big Sisters’ Youth Outcomes Report conducted by Salem Valentino and Marc Wheeler, the following eight measures were tested:

  • social competence – parental trust
  • educational expectations – risk avoidance
  • grades – truancy
  • social acceptance – special adult relationship

The seven outcome areas that were examined for school-based and community-based were:

  • social acceptance – grades
  • scholastic competence – attitudes toward risky behaviors
  • educational expectations – special adult relationships
  • parental trust
